Re: Making my 3rd Gen. handle and stop better.

I have boxed LCA's and panhard bar on my car. A strip of metal was simply welded over the "gap" on the stock stamped pieces to reinforce them. This gives you the essentially the same results as boxed and tubular aftermarket parts. Then, if you want to upgrade your bushings, simply buy some new ones for the stock pieces. It only cost me $70 including labor to have mine done.

Mr. Strano is a F-body suspension specialist and vendor. He races f bodies and knows his stuff when it comes to upgrading their suspensions. www.stranoparts.com

edit - if you want pics of my boxed pieces, I can go out and take some and post them up tonight.

If you don't do anything else, listen to Sam (Strano). F-Body suspension wizard. Make a call to him and you'll never be sorry.

Re: Making my 3rd Gen. handle and stop better.

Alright, I'll call him after this post. One question though. I went under my car today and I saw some black triangular brace that went from the rear differential case to somewhere up to the center of the car. Can someone expalin what this would be? This is what I was thinking was the sub-frame connector, but now I'm not so sure. It doesn't look stock because it's the only really "shiny" black piece underneath my car.

Well I just called Strano and the first thing I noticed was how friend;y the person who answered the phone was! They answered politly, commented me on the car, asked me some questins etc. Definitely the people I'd like to deal with. Sam wasn't in today though, he was out sick and the girl who answered the phone said he'd call me tomorrow.

Yeah it does look like that. Does that serve the same purpose as a sub frame connector or traction bars?

Re: Making my 3rd Gen. handle and stop better.

Sorry guys, but I must have been sleeping before. I went under my car today after taking a nice 2 week vacation and I noticed that this "thing" (which defintiely looks just like a torque arm) definitely doesn't connect from the differential to the tranny. It has 4 bolts, 2 of which go to the top of the differential case and 2 of which go to the bottom. It then gos into a triangualar shape, and just bolts up toward the middle (length eise) and center (width wise) of the car. It has a grease ftting on it.

Do you guys have any idea what this could be?

Re: Making my 3rd Gen. handle and stop better.

sounds like an after market torque arm that bolts up to a crossmember in the front

i believe the 4 bolts you refer to are actually two long bolts and two nuts that bolt the torque arm to the differential housing, the grease fitting is on the bushing at the other end?

Re: Making my 3rd Gen. handle and stop better.

You could be right about the 4 bolts. I'm at work right now, so I can't check, but I'll see when I get home.

If I remember correctly, the grease fitting was actualy towards the front of the torque arm, but not where a bushing would be. I'll check exactly when I get home.
