making my own battery tie down. need help

To solve my problem of getting denied to run at the track due to my broken battery holder, I'm making my own strap out of 1/8" aluminum strap. It came good so far but for those who did this same thing, what did you do when it came to getting the strap to bolt to the radiator support? I have about a 1/4" gap and the hole i was going to thread and bolt it with doesnt line up. Help me fix my screw up? heres some pics to get an idea.

space it up with a few washers.

not sure if your trying to make it look good or not, but I have seen some pretty crude bat hold downs...... Like 2 pc. of all thread and a pc. of angle with a hole in each end.

So it does not need to look great as long as it works. But then again I wouldn't want anything too rigged up on my car.

as far as side to side on that bolt just bend it over a little.

I did virtually the same setup with my Formula, but there's a bigger problem, because the Firebird headlight assemblies bolt to the hole you were trying to use. The headlight bracket blocks using a large part of the radiator support. I ended up notching the battery bracket to clear the headlight bracket, so the battery bracket would stay perpendicular to the radiator support, then had to drill a new hole in the support and use a through bolt to hold the battery bracket.

Thumbs up

If you don't mind me asking, what are the measurements at the bends and where you drilled the holes.?

Thanks!
