Sounds fine. You may want to check the brake fluid level when you're all done because some could have leaked out when you 'opened' the caliper to get the pads off.

1 unbolt caliper
2 remove old pads
3 unbolt caliper mounting bracket
4 remove old rotor
5 put on new rotor
6 put caliper mounting bracket back on
7 grease outside of new pads/inside of caliper
8 put on new pads
9 compress caliper piston
10 put caliper back on

I also rinsed the new rotors with water. (i was told by someone else i had to wash them or something)

is this all right?
You will want to hit the rotors with brake cleaner to knock off any oil that may be on them. Could be there so they won't rust during storage, could be on there because you got it on them while installing them.

Break-in usually involves slowing from something like 50-5mph several times without ever coming to a complete stop; will vary by pads. Usually instructions are written on the brake pads' box.

Also be sure to step on the brakes a couple times before you put the car in gear and drive; the pedal will probably go to the floor once or twice before you reset the 'spread' calipers to their proper position. Check the fluid level after doing this.

Just take the pad back to the store and exchange it. What you mentioned above is just a bad idea.

Sounds like you've got a problem on your hands. I wouldn't suggest filing your brake pads down for any reason though. That just sounds like a bad idea. Is the pad too long, too wide, or too thick? At any rate, I see a trip to Auto Zone in your future.

kind of hard to explain what part exactly doesnt fit but one of the pads will not fit in any of the four spots.

I think im just gonna have to go buy new pads. Since i already opened up the hawk pads and everything will i still be able to return them to this place? I cant wait around for them to ship me a set of new pads so would i be able to buy some hawk hps pads around here? If not whats a good pad thats close to the hps pads that i could get at a local parts store?

It's not the best idea to mod your daily driver unless you really know what you're doing. You get stuck in places like this because of parts that don't fit, needed fabrication, needed additional parts, etc.

You won't listen to me, but if this is going to be your DD you should just do what is needed to be done to have it go down the road safely. That means things like Autozone pads, as they are obviously far easier to return if something doesn't fit. If you want to put aftermarket parts on it (including pads), it's usually best to have a beater.
im trying to payoff this car this summer then im going to buy a DD

Take a picture of the pad that doesn't fit sitting next to its counterpart that does.

ok i compared them side by side and everything and they look pretty much the same. the problem was one of the little hook thins on the side and the bottom pointy things wont fit right. if that makes any sense. i think im gonna buy a new set and see how that works.
