Need help quick...Will LS1 REAR brakes bolt up to my 95 Z28???

Got the LS1 REAR, calipers, mounting plates, rotors, e-brake cables everything etc.

Will all this stuff just bolt up on the rear of my 95 Z28 or is there a clearance issue with using LT1 rear axles vs. LS1 rear brakes?

I have heard it both ways so now I need a definite answer. I am tearing it apart this weekend.
Thanks

Everything will work, given you have everything you need. LS1 calipers will bolt up if you put LS1 backing plates on. Rotors and ebrake cable I heard bolt up, but not a hundred percent sure (i don't see why not).

You will also need LS1 axles. You can't mix the brakes and axles betwee LT1 and LS1. I don't see why anybody would swap the rears. They are basically the same size.

If this is true then please explain specifically why?

I got a really good deal on them plus they are still bigger and you don't have the crappy parking brake and adjustment issues like you do on the LT1 rears. The LS1 rears are still better, although not by staggering amounts I will agree. Plus I want to do for the same reason some climb Mt. Everest, just because I want to.

So if the LT1 and LS1 axles are different it must be in length. Some say the LS1 axle is 1/8" shorter. The caliper itself floats and can absorb an 1/8", so the only interference would have to be with the caliper mounting bracket. If worst came to worse 1/8" could be milled off of the brackets or washers added to allow for this.

I have read were some thought that it was a direct bolt-on. I really hope that some people who have real experience with doing this will chime in.

First time I've heard that complaint in 13 years of owning an LT1, and 8 years of posting here.

I have had problems with the e-brake working like it should, I have tweaked with the set screw adjustment and everything. The pivot plate with the hole tends to slip on the barrel that is behind the pad. This should not happen under ideal conditions but mine has worn funny and sometimes I get good e-brake response and other times I dont. The LS1 e-brake does not use the same mechanism and works far better and actually slows the car down in the event of an emergency much better than my brakes ever would.

parking brake is not meant for emergencies, even if you do call it the emrgency brake, i agree that an integral drum style e-brake is more effective than a spring loaded caliper, but the cost outweighs the benefits, imho

Okay, you guys have convinced me that I have too much money and spare time and dont need to use my parking brake in an emergency cause thats not what its for.

Can we please just post comments that will actually help, what is the difference in the LS1 and LT1 axles, why do some say I cant just bolt on the LS1 rear brakes that I already have.

the most frequent problem i hear is that when everything is bolted down, the rotor will rub on the inside, i would be worried about the rotor seating fully, and i personally wouldnt compromise the integrity of the abutment bracket by milling it, its designed to a specific thickness for a reason
