Need Steel brake lines from ABS to Flex Line
Hi Everybody,
My 93 Z28 FRONT STEEL Brake lines running from the ABS to the flexible line going to the calipers are shot. I would like the stock pre-bent lines off a 93 or 94 but cannot find them. I tried to fix my originals but double flairing those hard steel lines with new fitting is not working. Leaks badly.
Appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks,
AL

I may have to go with the softer lines, I can't even find a junkyard that has a 93 or 94 camaro.

i had trouble with a double flaring tool but it was because i wasnt using it properly
they seem simple enough to use, but they're very easy to screw up
please correct me if i'm wrong
as long as its not stainless steel which needs a 37degree single flare i think
the regular steel tubing needs a 45 degree double flare
you just have to make sure you're using the right adapter (i believe the line is 3/16th in diameter), make sure you have enough but not too much of the line sticking out when you use the tool (the adapter seconds as a measuring device for this step) and make sure you clamp down the line tightly
and of course that you're using the right fitting

As far as I know the hard lines are not available from GM. You will need to bend your own or find some good ones at a junkyard. The lines are 3/16" or 5/16" and I am almost positive they use a metric bubble flare not the standard 45 degree double flare.

My service manual for a 94 shows the front brake pipes as 4.76mm. That is 3/16". All front brake pipes use the ISO flare. I belive the ISO flare is also called a metric bubble flare. This is one place to buy the ISO flare tool. http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/TTW58.html#1144
I'm sure any place you can buy a flare tool can get the ISO flare tool.
If you make your own pipes the nut size is M10 x 1.0
Just as a note my service manual says rear brake pipes use a 45 degree double flare and all other pipes use the ISO flare. I'm not sure if that means all rear brake pipes or just the one from the abs to the flex hose at the rear axle. In any case it doesn't matter as all front flares should be ISO. I just thought it was strange to use two different types of flares on the same car.
