New rotors and calipers - suggestions?

Hey guys,

I have a red '98 Z28 and I'm looking to get some new brake rotors and calipers. The ones I have now are the stock parts and they're rusted and ugly. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can purchase a good set of chrome/stainless-steel type rotors that won't rust, and some red calipers to go with them? Thanks!

Z

Coated rotors can be purchased from a number of sources
I got mine from Stranoparts.com.
As far as the Calipers if they work why not paint them rather then replace them.
Duplicolor and Eastwood sell caliper paint kits.

Heres a couple pics of my new setup

Awesome! Those look sweet man.

My calipers are stock, and they're really rusty, so that's why I was thinking about getting new ones and just having a mechanic install them for me. Plus, to be honest, I don't know much about changing brake calipers on my car. I'm not that mechanically inclined. However, I would love to do this on my own. It's just that I don't know how, and I don't want to tear it all apart to paint them only to not know how to put it all back together again. On top of all that, I'm currently in Air Force pilot training, so finding the time to paint and change my brakes would be hard.

Is there a manual or step-by-step guide out there to teach people how to do stuff to their camaro's, like changing brakes and whatnot? I'd like to learn how to work on my car without messing things up. Plus, I think it would be a neat hobby to get into. When I'm not flying, I might as well be working on my camaro!

the LS1 has alum calipers....so its not rust.

just hit them with a wire brush and paint them....or leave em clean...maybe just clearcoat.

You can go to the local autoparts store and pick up a Repair manual (Hayes Chilton's etc..)
The Job is pretty straight forward, I actually swapped the rotors and pads then painted the calipers after everthing was assembled.

Cool. I just bought some dupli-color caliper red paint from Afterthoughts. If that's not rust on my caliper's, then damn, they sure are dirty!

Thanks for the info! I'm definitely going to purchase myself a Haynes manual for the Camaro. After learning the basics, it's going to be hard to stop upgrading my Z28! My wallet is in for a beating...
