Angry OMG!!!!!Brakes being a PITA.

I have been trying to replace the rear disk pads for an hour now and I can't get enough room to slide them over the rotor.I have compressed the piston back in and still nothing.HELP

Due to the parking brake, the pistons screw back into the caliber. Check your parts start for a 'brake cube', which is basically a socket that has various patterns for the brake pistons, or sometimes a pair needle nose pliers jammed into the holes will allow you to turn them.

4th gen caliper pistons don't screw in.

Red97LT1, I can't remember if the parking brake mechanism can be keeping it from going far enough, but it might..

You were right. I changed the pads on the other side and everything went smooth.I noticed that side the piston went further in than the side that was giving the problem.I used the pad spreader and kept turning and it finally popped and started going back further than it had been.I guess the mechanism was frozen since i did find alot of rust.All is ok now.
