Panhard rod help!!!!

Ok, I have an adj. panhard rod bar from UMI on my car. It is too long and the rear end is too far to the right. I took it to Firestone and had them align it, seeing how I have their lifetime alignment plan. At first, they just aligned my front. I took it back and told them the rear was still out of align. After arguing with the guy about whether or not my rear end can be aligned (I had to explain the adjustable panhard rod bar to him), they put it on the machine and it showed that my rear end is aligned. However, I can physically see that the driver's side tire is further out than the left side. I saw the results from the alignment machine at firestone, and it says both side are at 0. And when I do a burnout at the track, it still pulls the car to the left and the car pulls to the right, while driving down the road.

Do I need to ask for something special at Firestone?

You just need to do it yourself. Don't expect a common shop to understand something that is non-standard on the car. The panhard rod will likely have no effect on your pulling situation. It's really designed to center the body over the rear, not change drivability issues.

All you need to do is tape a weighted string to each rear quarter panel and centered on each rear wheel. Then measure the distance from each wheel to the string with a tape measure or ruler and adjust the PHB till the wheels are perfectly aligned. This obviously has to be done with weight on wheels.

Also, do it yourself, it's easy

if you put the panhard rod on yourself then you are perfectly capable of centering the rear end yourself
if you had someone install the panhard rod, take it back to them to center it

What are you going buy? Are you trusting your eyes to line it up with the rear bumper? If so thats not going to work, who says what you are eye ballling it with isn't centered either?

I also don't think since your cars pulls on a burn out it is not centered.

I aligned it today with the string/weight idea.... worked like a charm... my car no longer gets sideways in a burnout and doesn't pull to the side

I'm happy
