Pictures of my LS1 brake upgrade

Here are the pictures I took during/after my install.

Here's what went on the car:
LS1 knuckles
LS1 Calipers painted red with CAMARO decals from Brent
Powerslot Rotors
Hawk Pads
Earls Lines (front and back)

Also pictured are the trans am panels I put on the same weekend

The brakes not only perform great but they look sharp, very happy with the results

Looks good. I'm glad you're happy. How much did the T/A door panels set you back? I've been thinking about doing this.

Got them in a trade for the used LS1 rotors I got in my setup and my stock hurst shifter.

Re: Pictures of my LS1 brake upgrade

Looks great. Did you powder coat the caliper or just paint it? If you powdercoated it, how much was it?

Painted them. Cleaned them really well, 3 coats of Dupli-Color Red, then put the decals on, then 3 coats of Dupli-Color Clear

Re: Pictures of my LS1 brake upgrade

which earls brake line kit did you use. I'm doing the front only on my 96. I called summit thay said the earls brake line kit for a 2000 camaro comes with 4 brake lines. I need 5, my car has 2 rubber lines in the front and 3 rubber lines in the rear.

I used the LS1 stlye. They come with 5 lines actually. 2 front, 2 rear and one rear middle. The fronts and backs went on fine, but the 5th one was not the right size. I just kept the stock 5th one.

I just got done doing the LS1 brake upgrade as well and found that I had to relocate the hard brake line mounting braket. It the stock LT1 location it stretched the flexible lines and then when the wheel was turned in the other direction the flex line would rub against the tire. I had to bend the **** out of the hard line to find the "sweet spot".. which for me was located in the center of the wheel.

Did you have to relocate the hard brake line mounting bracket? Or did the new Earl's brake line kit have longer hoses than stock LS1's?

Re: Pictures of my LS1 brake upgrade

I didn't find any problem with the earl's LS1 lines, they seemed to fit fine. I however never compared the length of the stock LS1 lines and the earl's side-by-side

Re: Pictures of my LS1 brake upgrade

So did you have to move the mounting location and/ or bend the hard lines?

Re: Pictures of my LS1 brake upgrade

The brake lines that came with the set up had a hard metal line that came out of the banjo bolt where it meets the caliper and then turns into a rubber hose. It has about 2" of metal line from the caliper. I'm wondering if this is a brake line out of a car with traction control or are all the LS1 stock flex lines like that?

Re: Pictures of my LS1 brake upgrade

Hmmm... just called a Chevy dealer and the brake lines are the same P/N for 98-02 cars w/ traction control and w/o traction control. So I now believe the brake lines that I have are used on stock LS1 f-bodys. Not that is does me any good, cuz I still have to custom fabricate my mounting bracket.

What a pain in the a**!!

Re: Pictures of my LS1 brake upgrade
