Please help with pinion angle equation....

I have an adj. bmr torque arm on my '94Z A4. After install and making some adjustments I placed the angle finder on the bottom of the TA mounting plate and got a reading of -5*. Then I rotated my driveshaft so that I could place the angle finder on the flattest part of the yoke which read -3.5*. Both measurements were taken facing the driver side. Both the driveshaft and pinion are slightly facing downward forming the "V" angle. Would the correct equation be: (-5*) - (-3.5*)= -1.5*?? My goal was to get between -1* and -2*.

i thought that the angle finder is to be placed on the actual driveshaft itself and not the yoke...

Thanks for that info. I'll probably try that later today after work. Was the equation I mentioned above done correctly?
