I'm running a fairly large cam (231/240 @ 0.5/144lsa .558 lift) and an ATI-D1 blower pulley 7.6-->3.4" (97SS - 383) Performance is great. But panic stoping brakes went away. Manifold vac shows 3" @ idle, and, max of 13" on the road with throttle valve closed. Still not enough. So, I looked @ what I could do. You can replace the Vac booster with a hyd acc. unit power from the PS pump (A Summit $480.00 value less plumbing). Or, a SSBC electric vac pump (Summit $280.00 less plumbling). I went with the SSBC Vac unit. Installing now. I will not change cam or re-pulley for less flow/ boost (whats the point of that???). SSBC claims that 16" Vac is the minimum for decent breaking. From my road tests, I'm inclined to agree with them.
Hope this helps.
