QA1 question

I just put the front coil over QA1 set up on te front of my car, and with the car in the air and a spanner wrench they still are very difficult to adjust. The spring seems to be binding on the base, is there supposed to be some kind of bearing on the collar like there would be on the top of a regular strut set up. Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks Scott

There should be a thin polished stainless steel washer between the bottom of the spring and the top of the seat. I lubed that up with a lot of anti-sieze. Also coated the threads on the shock barrel with anti-sieze. Hard to move the seat with the spanner, but not impossible. QA1 also offers an optional Torrington bearing to reduce the friction.

The original QA1s had a thin washer that went between the adjuster nut and the spring seat (when using stock springs and a modified stock seat). Coating it with anti-seize would help a little. Later on, I think they had a thrust washer available to help make adjusting easier.

[edit] ok, I type too slow...
