Question about rear springs

I want to lower my car slightly but truthfully I just want stiffer springs. I was thinking of buying 1le springs and cutting 1 coil out. OR.. I was gonna just buy rear lowering springs from bmr. would these work are they stiffer. My tires rub now on hard bumps with factory stuff. Please give me your .2

Thanks,

tim

Re: Question about rear springs

Remove the upper spring perch, and use a piece of 5/8" heater hose on the top coil of each rear spring. This should lower the car about 1/2".

Re: Question about rear springs

but as I stated above... my rear springs are already rubbing when I hit a bump, so I am not sure if this would be good since my springs arent stiff enough

Re: Question about rear springs

What size tire/wheels are you running. You should not be rubbing with stock springs if you are running stock sizes (245-275). If you go to a higher rate spring, you will also need to upgrade the shocks as well (not a bad idea even with stock springs).

Re: Question about rear springs

I have the c5 thick spoke 18's in the back and 17's in the front. 275-40-18's in the back. with longer wheel studs and 1/4 inch spacers... even w/ out spacers the fender well is very restrictive... maybe I should just do all that and get bmr's

What do you think

That's your biggest problem, a 275/40R18 is 1" taller in diameter than a 275/40R17. What you should be running is a 275/35R18. Do you already have lowering springs or are you stock? If your stock, going to any other lowering springs is just going to make the problem way worse. If you already have lowering springs, then I'd go back to stock (maybe with the heater hose trick to get a little lower than stock).
