Quick LCA question

I put my lower control arms on with the weld in brakets. I haven't welded them into place yet but i've tightened all the bolts and have it sitting on the wheels again. Theres where the problem is, now the wheels sitt further back in the wheel well, like a finger space from the back bumper. I know this can't be right, could i have the brakets on upside down, or could this really be correct?

There's nothing that I remember that would guide the positioning of a weld-in bracket, so what did you use to decide where to put them? Seems to me that if you loosened the bolts, you could move the axle fore/aft until it was right, then tighten them back down when it's in the right place. I don't know that I'd drive the car with these brackets not welded in...
