Rack and pinion ratio

I had an 86 Vette with the Z51 suspension which included a smaller steering wheel turn ratio; not exact but and example, instead of 2 full turns of the steering wheel it only took 1.5 to go from full left to full right. Has anyone heard/thought of this for fbodys. I figure a corvette rack wouldn't fit?
