Re- installing torque arm...

I have the bushing shell off the arm and was trying to get it back into place and it seems that it won't go in there. It hits the undercarriage of the car before I can get the long shaft to go into the mount. Any suggestions? Thanks!

P.S. By it I mean the bushing shell.

Is it not ligning up? You have to lower or raise the rear-end to align the TA shaft to the front bushing mount. It easier if your car is on all fours jacked up. On the rear end housing you wanna find that nice center flat spot so your not jacking the rear end at a slight pitch.
Maybe you reverse your mounting process doing the front first and then mount the rear last.

No I mean the bushing shell itself seems to not want to go on the tranmission tail. When I tro to get the bolt into the hole there isn't enough room. Am I trying to get it into the wropng spot?

Re: Re- installing torque arm...

Sounds like you already have your rear mount bolted up. I found it a lil harder to do it that way. I would mount the front first and then lineup the rear last. With the front mounted first you can still kinda move the TA around to lineup with the rear and then slide the two bolts in. Remember that rasing and lowering of the rearend housing helps too..so a second jack is needed. Try that.

Re: Re- installing torque arm...

In order for the clamshell mount to bolt to an automatic transmission without contacting the floor pan, remove the crossmember and lower the tail of the trans. That gives you enough clearance to insert the long bolt into the tailshaft housing. Once the bolt is inserted, raise the tail of the trans and reconnect the crossmember. Apply silicone lube to the clamshell bushing and slide the end of the torque arm into the bushing, then bolt the torque arm to the differential housing. Finally, tighten the clamshell bolts and you're done.
