Rear brake bleeding problem

I finally finished putting together my motor, and put the motor and K-member back on the car.

Everything's bolted up and the brake lines are attached to the resiviour. I attempt to bleed the brakes to get the air outta the lines that was in them from when I had detached them to get the K-member off and when I started doing the rears first, nothing seemed to come out.

The front brakes bled very smoothly, all the air was taken out of the lines and the front brakes work fine. I ran into the problem though when I tried to do the back.

When the bleed valve is open, and the brake is depressed, instead of the lines losing pressure and the pedal bottoming out to the firewall, it doesn't bottom out. It goes down but seems as if I hadn't opened the valve at all, but the brake rotors still spin without any friction by the pads.

We've opened it a few times already and just tried pumping the brakes, but to no such avail currently.

I'll be taking it to tires plus most likely tomorrow because they have a brake bleeding machine they can put the car on, but if they run into problems, what could I attribute it to?

I'm open to any ideas.

Perhaps you are not getting the bleeder open enough?

IIRC, when I dropped my k-member, I only had to disconnect the front brakes at the ABS unit and did not have to do anything to the rears.

bleed everything, including the abs unit, then it should work.

I did TRY to bleed everything. It's just the rear brakes that aren't bleeding.

I regret strongly taking off the rear brake lines. That's definitely the only thing that I woulda done differently :-/

Well, I have to remove a bleeder anyway because the nut is rounded but could it really be that both of them are that clogged :/

And also, my friend told me that I couldn't leave the resoviour cap open to keep it filled while bleeding, and that I had to cap it when I pressed the brake pedal and then open to top off again.

Is this correct? Because the front brakes bled perfectly using this method.

I keep it capped to keep any dirt and moisture out and avoid any possibility of fluid going anywhere. Brake fluid eats paint.
