Rear brakes catch in reverse, Brake light on
'94 Z28 A4, completely stock
Bought the car not too long ago, Brake light has always been on.
When in reverse, the rear brakes (e-brake I'm assuming) catches and drags. My car coasts in gear just fine, any ideas?

Z28s don't have drum brakes and a 94 uses the same, normal disc brake for the parking brake. I can't see how it could drag in reverse and not forward. That does not seem to make sense.

Re: Rear brakes catch in reverse, Brake light on
Find out why the "BRAKE" light is on. Could be the lever is up far enough to put tension on the E-brake cable. Could be that the pressure is not releasing in the rear braking circuit for some reason. The "BRAKE" light could be the result of either of those conditions.
It's conceivable that there is uneven wear on the brake pads, with the pads being thinner on the rear edge and thicker on the front edge. That might cause the pad to "wedge" when the rotor is turning backwards, but that's really an "out in left field" concept.
