rear end abs wires disconnected

I have a Strange 12 bolt with abs. My abs inop light came on a few months ago and I finally got around to investigating the cause. Everything looks fine except there are two thin wires that look like they have been cleanly cut off of the top of the rear end. I'm pretty sure these are the abs wires that are supposed to connect to the top of the rear end.

The wires look like they've been cleanly cut, no copper or corrosion or burn marks or anything. I couldn't see a pigtail so my question is how do these connect to the rear end? Do I need to solder them back on? Does anyone have a picture?

The wires connect to the ABS sensor. Can you not find the matching pieces of wire on the sensor?

No, it looks like they came off flush with the sensor. The sensor is covered in grime so I'm gonna have to use a tooth brush or something to clean it off.

If you take the allen head screw out, you can pull the sensor and mounting plate out. Then clean it up. The Strange sensor is not very reliable to begin with, and may need to be replaced. I gave up on mine a long time ago.

I pulled the screw out and cleaned it up but couldn't figure out the mounting plate. It looks like it's molded into the rear end?

Did something break off the top of the screw? I still don't see how these wires connect, it looks like there are two spots right next to each other where the wires may have been.

Here's the best close up shot I could get:

I can't remember very well.... its been years since I even looked at the sensor. I think it just had the two wires molded into it. Appears yours broke off. Maybe not enough slack in the wire, to accomodate the movement of the rear axle.

The mounting plate is a black aluminum "cylinder" that pushes down into the hole in the diff housing, like a cork. It has the hole offset to one side, so that it can be rotated 180-degrees to move the sensor over the reluctor gear, depending which series carrier the rear has.

I called Strange and explained the situation. They said the wires are in fact molded into the plug so I had to buy a new plug for $60

The new abs sensor arrived and here's what it looks like:

Strange said installation requires draining the rear, removing the cover and screwing the sensor in so it's .010" from the gear. I just screwed it in until I hit resistance and backed it off about 5 full turns. The abs light went away but when I came to a full stop, the "low traction" light came on and the peddle would pulsate. I went back and backed it off one full turn from the gear and it works great now. No draining, no cover removal.
