Rear LT1 brake squeak...There has to be a way to fix this.

I know why this happens but I cant seem to fix it.
The inner brake pad shifts inside the caliper bracket when hitting rough spots in the road. This can be simulated by jacking up the car, removing the wheel and putting the lug nuts back on without the wheel. If you pull and tug on the wheeless axle the squeak can easily be heard. No doubt its the inner pad.

I am very sick of this noise, it is very annoying. I have put caliper grease on the end tabs of the inner pad, it worked for a while but the squeak is back. I have the H-shaped insulator installed correctly.

Is there a way to fix this damn squeak.
Thanks

I would like to reactivate this thread as I too have been wanting to fix this. If you look at the caliper where the tabs of the brake pads fit in they are wearing a small "divet" in the metal, mine squeak like crazy and it is embarrassing, you can take apart grease em up with no squeak and that fixes it temporary,, they have been doing since I bought the car.

anyone know how to fix??

yup, I work at a GM dealership, and to prevent this noise and people coming back bitching we use the intake adhesive to glue the pad to the caliper. Yes, it makes things difficult during the next brake job, but its well worth it to not sound like a trailer park car!

I had a brake "clicking" when I applied the brakes. I replaced the pads with some Hawk HPS pads and loaded the backs of the pad with antisqueal and the clicking went away. Try replacing the rear pads.
