Rear suspension clunk/pop...

On my '01, whenever I hit a bump there is a loud pop or clunk in the rear. I remember my '94 did this too but I just ignored it. I want to fix it this time. Maybe some bushings are bad?

Re: Rear suspension clunk/pop...

When I heard this sound it was my Transmission mount, right under the middle of the car below the middle axial.

Get under the car and check everything out. My exhaust was making a bad clanking sound. Shake stuff and you can even used a rubber mallet to help.

Re: Rear suspension clunk/pop...

I had a similar problem and I replaced all the mounts and have changed the hole rear suspension with aftermarket parts, and that fixed some of it but I still have a clunk when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd and to 4th. My u-joints are tight,so I'm thinking it's the rearend. That probably wont help, but that's my 2 cents.

Trans mount and tourque arm bushings usually cause this sound during shifts.

To the OP check your over rear loop and check for rub marks. check the bump stops as well. if there is marks on the loop ahead of the rear then you need to loosen your Y and slide your exhaust fwd. Since these are slip fit you really cant tell if it is loose or not. Also if your bup stops are metal hitting the rear that will make a loud noise as well. The trans mount can make this also.

Re: Rear suspension clunk/pop...

I found my clunking. It the torque arm hitting the tunnel. It's a BMR adj arm and I haven't been able to adj it yet, sense you have to have the susp. loaded to find the angel.
