Rear wheel speed sensors 98+ backing plates rear

HEllo,

I would like to know where do you fit the wheel speed sensors and/or if you have a picture of the 98+ backing plates

I wanted a special rear through tbyrne from strange and it looks like they installed the incorrect backing plates onto my new Strange 12bolt...

The reluctor rings are installed on the axles but the backing plates have no provisions for wheel speed sensor..

any pictures of the backing plates is appreciated...

Thanks

speed sensor is embedded in the axle. and if you got the wrong plates you'll have to take the axle to a nearby dealer to see what they can do for you.

If you have ASR the speed sensors go in the backing . There should be a circular hole about 1 inch in diameter to mount each speed sensor in the backing plates. If it is not there you should be able to use yuor backing plates . You may have to pressoff a bearing and pressit back on , if the axles came assembled.

please explain.. the sensors go in the backing plates. but the reluctor rings ARE pressed in the axle, so that part is fine.. i guess i have to drill a hole and then put the sensor in there...

can the backing plates be removed? i think they are soldered.

No you can't drill for the sensors. There should be a hole thru the backing plates at the very bottom with a small hole for the retainer screw. If this hole isn't there contact Strange and find out why they installed the wrong backing plates and what they are willing to do to rectify the problem. To change the plates you need to destroy the bearings and bearing retainers and buy new ones for the reinstall.
