Removing shocks

Quick question for the experts.

Can I remove all 4 shocks (to have them rebuilt) and let the car sit on springs?

If not;

What is the best course of action?

THanks.

The fronts are coil overs so the springs have to come out and no you cant put them back in without the shocks. The backs.... well yeah if you wanted you can leave the springs in and put the wheels back on then lower it back down. I wouldn't recommend it. The spring alone wont be able to hold the weight.

Re: Removing shocks

The spring can hold the weight alone. In fact, that's all that's actually supporting the vehicle not the shocks. I would leave the fronts on jack stands while you're getting them rebuilt.

Re: Removing shocks

Leave the whole car on jackstands.

But as noted above, the rear springs will support the weight of the car - they do it every day.
