I need to replace my inner tie rod within the next few weeks. Anyone know how hard it is to do it myself. i have some mechanic friends that would help. So does anyone have any tips as to how to go about this?

It's pretty straight forward. I haven't done one an F-body but have on my GTO and a number of other vehicles. First step is to remove the outer tie rod from the knuckle and from the inner tie rod. It's easier to break the jam nut and loosen the inner from the outer with the outer tie rod still connected to the knuckle. You will have to unscrew the jam nut completely from the inner as well. Undo the zip ties or clips that fasten the steering bellow and pull the steering bellow off. You will then have to use an inner tie rod tool (if you have space a large wrench or an adjustable will work) to loosen the inner tie rod from the steering rack. Your supposed to support the steering rack when doing this but i never find an easy way of doing that and have never had any ill effects without doing so. The new tie rod gets screwed on tightly and the washer that's on the end peened over to hold it securely. The rest of the install is the reverse of removal. Be sure to get it aligned afterwards.
