Question Rotors?

If you could get slotted/drilled rotors for $60.00 more than regular blanks, would you do it? Car is a daily driver and no racing.Just trying to see if they would make any difference for what I will use them for. Thanks

No. save your money. If you want better braking, spend that $60 on better pads.

Look what happens to expensive drilled rotors - e.g. Baer:

I wouldn't buy cheap ones.

if you get a slotted or drilled rotor make sure its great quality. Less metal is not a good idea. Now if you get some baer or exotic rotors is another story.

The slots in a rotor clean the glaze from the surface of your pad as it passes over it while the holes allow the expansion of gas, allowing the pad to grip. The slot is just going to shorten your life of the pad on a street driven car, and the holes in the Rotor removing strength will only allow it to degrade (crack) faster. This will shorten the life of your rotors. What possible advantage would there be on a street driven car to have drilled and slotted rotors? Actually there is no advantage at all. A race car changes its brake rotors after each race, and depending on the race, during some. BMW advises you not to use these just for this reason. I tried to find the letter to send it to you, but I could not find it. In the BMW market, Drilled and slotted rotors are dime a dozen, which is why I ask them directly when doing the brakes on my convertible. I thought if it would make it safer, why not. They said the increased chance of failure, along with shorter material life for the pads, make this a bad idea.
