Angry Rubber brake line...rounded the bolt!!

Well i am in process of taking of my old brakes to put some baer brakes. The passanger side came of nicely, but same cant be said for the driver side!! I rounded the bolt that connects the rubber line to the metal one. How should i go about removing it? The connecor has to be replaced as well once i take it off.....What will be the best way to fix this mess?
Thanks
Marcin

I guess the best way would be to use a tubing cutter and cut the metal line removing the bad fittiing. Then use a double flairing tool and put on a new connector.

If it is a flare nut, you should always use a flare nut wrench, but even then sometimes you can get into trouble. If you are going to replace it, time to get out the vice-grips.

would just be easier to cut it off if you are going to replace it?

PLEASE don't post "brake" questions in "LT1/LT4 Engine Tech". Moving to Suspension, Chassis and Brakes.....

Just get a set and then you can choose the one that fits.

Re: Rubber brake line...rounded the bolt!!

I've had some success with reshaping the rounded fitting with a file. Flare wrench is the way to go. Also sometimes by slightly tightening the fitting first before loosening it can help to break them loose. As Shoebox stated, vice grips can save you if can't get it with a flare wrench.

well the brake line is 3/16ths, so its gonna be the smallest of the flare nut wrenches
the brings it down from 6 wrenches to 2, the smallest sae and the smallest metric

Re: Rubber brake line...rounded the bolt!!

Same thing happened to me 3 years ago and I HAD flare nut wrenches. Had to cut it off. Not even vice grips would get it off. The flare nuts are soft metal.
