does anyone know if the stock sfc needs to be removed before an aftermarket can be installed?

Re: sfcs for convertibles

Stock 4th gen fbodies don't have sfc's (I don't know that any stock fbody ever did). The 4th gens have a weak x brace. Being that you have a convertible a set of aftermarket sfc's will be a big help to you. Get em .

Re: sfcs for convertibles

From what Ive seen no, they reinforce what the stock subframes lack, and tie the centers together. I think the X brace does need to be removed. I dont have them myself so i cant say for sure

Re: sfcs for convertibles

No the x brace doesn't need to be removed in order to have typical sfc's installed. However if you went with Double diamond (DD) SFC's then you might need to remove the x brace.
