Shock suggestions?

Buddy is replacing the stock springs with ones that do a 1 inch drop. He's trying to decide as to which shock to get.Wise choice would be Koni, but not sure he can afford to go that route right now.The car is a daily driver only,no track, etc. I know he's been looking at the KYB AGX.So,should he just save up and get the Koni or will the AGX be fine for what he needs them for. He's looking for a balance between comfort and handling.

He did the heater hose mod today and it looks pretty dang good.He decided to try it first before getting springs. Will the KYB or KYB AGX be ok with the stock springs?

Bilsteins would also be a good option.
