Softer than usual brake pedal...HELP!

Ok, i just bought my 96 camaro v6, 110k miles, i noticed yesterday after i had to brake hard my pedal was a lil softer than usual, so after i got to my g/f`s house, i popped the hood, and i noticed right where the master cylinder bolts into the brake booster there was some fluid leakage, slight but its there. Could this cause my spongier than usual pedal? and if so how hard is it to repair, im assuming theres a gasket.

Exclamation Well, as far as I know ...

There is no gasket between the power booster & the master cylinder. So, my theory is that your master cylibder is on it's way out, which is not a good thing for braking.

The real trick is that w/ anti-lock brakes, there are bleeding tricks that I am not sure can be done at the house - maybe someone else can chime in on that aspect.

If you can get around that "hurdle" , replacing the master cylinder itself should be no biggie.

Hope that helps !
