Steering shimmy when I apply the brakes
Whassup with my ride? When I apply the brakes, I feel the front end shimmy and vibrate, and it feels like the braking is uneven, it brakes more, then less, then more as the wheels rotate. Warped rotor? Car is an 88 IROC with J65 brakes.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Does the problem occur everytime you put on the brakes and for the entire duration you have the brake pedal down? If it only does it from highway speeds when you lightly apply the brakes and tends to go away once you slow to a certain speed you might have a wheel bearing issue. Otherwise go with the answers from the gentlemen above.

Thanks, guys. Sounds like If I were to put on new front rotors, then new wheel bearings would come as part of the deal, killing 2 birds at once. New pads also, woul dbe ikn order in that case.
The shimmy is most noticible when I brake at highway speed, but it continues as I slow down and roll to a stop.
So, I guess the next question then becomes, what would cause the rotors to warp? I don't ride the brakes or abuse the braking system at all. Ideas? I'd hate to replace rotors, then have the new ones warp.
If new rotors happen, I'm looking at a set of Raybestos Brutestop rotors. Opinions?
