Stock brake proportioning valve

First let me say I WANT TO KEEP MY ABS. What I want to do is find a way to override the stock proportioning valve and install an adjustable valve between the master cylinder and ABS manifold. Is it possible to remove the valve from the manifold and plug it??? I've changes so many things in my braking system, I feel the stock setting is off enough to justify trying. Anyone had any experience with this.
