Streching, Squeaking sound by front passenger tire when car is warm?
Car - 2000 Camaro SS
Ok so this is weird. I have a loud "strech" "squeak" when accelerating from a stop or coming to a stop.
It comes from the front passenger tire area and it comes and goes.
It seems to REALLY happen when the car is warm and the weather is really warm/hot.
Then you can go to the front passenger fender and push up and down on it (right above wheel) and you can really hear it "wrench it, wrench it" (for lack of better words) something really streching.
When the car is cooler. Pushing on it does nothing.
Where to start on this one ?
TIA

It really happens after the car is driven for a while the streching/squeaking sound starts on all branking and accelorating.
Then if the guy is stopped for a while (10 mins.) or so, the sound is gone.
You can hear it from he inside of the car.

Well, when the car is hot - 20 minutes or more of driving you can hear it.
It is just not stop and starting it is up / downs and even getting out of the car (weight releasing) that it "streches".
The mechanic said drop it off and he will try to find it, but he will never get it "hot" enoungh.
Is is possible it is my springs that when they are really hot are having a problem?
I am lost and no mechanic can help me. If the car sits for 10 minutes after the noise is gone.
TIA

Wow, I have the same car with the exact same problem! Have you found out any more about this? It's like a creaking noise right? I was going to try lubing the crap out of the suspension, one component at a time with WD-40 to try and pin point the problem. Any one else have this problem or care to give it a shot? Thanks,
Dan

Happened again today after about 10 minutes of driving in hot 90 degree weather.

I have the exact same problem as well, only mine started after my waterpump went south. Coolant from the weep hole hit the belt and slung coolant all over, and I suspect it got on the bushings.
Mine also creaks only after I've driven for about 15-20 minutes.
I had new shocks and springs put on last year, but I only drive it about 25 miles a week. It's almost an official garage queen......
If coolant on the bushings is indeed the problem, what's the fix other than replacement? I didn't see and grease zerks.

Sounds like the frame bushings for the swaybar. I use a silicon/dielectic grease with some powered graphite mixed in. Kind of a fix it once and forget it repair.
