Of all the chassis/suspension mods I have done, the subframe connectors is one of my favorites. They made a big difference in tightening up the car and eliminating all of the road noise it would make.

I agree. I didn't think they would help that much so i never considered them until my buddy got them and showed me how much they helped. I instantly ordered and installed them on my car.

very good mod, really made the car feel more solid on the road. i noticed it most on bridges (i live where there are ALOT) and you could tell the car was more solid when going over the little "dips" in the bridges.
in all honesty, i thought it made the car ride rougher to an extent. mainly due to less body flex absorbing bumps and making the suspension work more...and the suspension on our cars was never great.
it's not rougher in a bad way per-say...cause you definatly feel more connected to the road.

What subframe conectors are you guys using? I was going to order some SLPs but was wondering if they will get in the way if I do true duals with an x pipe. What are some other good brands and should I get weld in or bolt in?

I have been looking at subframe connectors for a while now. My roommate is a mechanical engineer for a company in the trucking industry. When I showed him what I was looking at, he laughed at me for wanting to spend $200 on it. He said that he could get all the metal free and weld up a pair in the garage.
So, I am trying to find some specs or dimensions so I can do a solid works model for him. Does anyone know where I would find the proper measurements? I doubt SLP or BMR would be forthcoming.

I went with the Spohn tubulars with the two point connection and they are the weld in style. They are more then enough for me. I have heard mixed stories of the SLP diamond shaped SFCs interfering with various exhaust setups. You could always do the two point design just to play it safe.

The 3-points are supposed to offer additional structural strength over the 2-points, but I really doubt you will notice a big difference between the two. As for brands, there are alot on the market which are all very good...Spohn, BMR, UMIPerformance, Kenny Brown, SLP, Hotpart, ect.

bolt in are fine for a while...or to use untill you can get them welded in. the problem is that over time the flex will elongate the bolt holes...no matter how tight you get them....which will reduce the effectiveness of the connectors.
my BMR boxed SFC tuck up nicely and added a very noticable amount of stiffness.
as for welding them yourself. yeah it can be done, but the way the SFC wrap around the bracket for the front of the LCAs...would not be a quick and easy fabrication. and it also takes more than a couple straight pieces of tubing.
not to mention they won't be powder coated.

this is a pic to show clearance...now granted i have the factory GFX..but they tuck up nice...the stock Ypipe actually hung lower

Hey Teke, thanks for the advice and the awesome photos. We decided to continue on with our plan to make them ourselves. We are working on the Solid Works drawings right now, and will be taking detailed measurements on the car this afternoon. I will post pics of our drawings and end results. We are working on it in our spare time, so it may be a couple of weeks.
