Is there a trick to get the stock top shock mount off?
Gahhh.
I've been struggling with this for the last hour or so.
We can't seem to get the rubber top shock mount (drivers side) off. The assembly is out of the car, and the top nut is off, but no matter how we coax it, the top shock mount won't come off the shock.
In the stock photo Injuneer has on his web site, it's the lower most right piece that won't come off the shock. Top nut and "dogbone" are off.

Help!
Thanks!

You do have the spring compressed and the compressor still holding it?
Otherwise the mount could fly off under spring pressure and kill you!!!
I don't think it is likely that you would make this mistake but I wanted to state this warning before giving advice.
The shock shaft can rust sieze to the inside of the upper mount. I had to cut my shock shaft to remove the spring. The shaft is very hard, blades won't touch it, use an abrasive cut off wheel or something like that.
Even with the mount off I could not remove the stub of the shock shaft left in the mount. I gave up and ordered two new upper mounts.
Good Luck

That makes 3 of us. Mine got trashed getting them off, but only because they were apparently "bonded" to the shaft by the years.
I found out quickly that the large shaft that comes out of the orange shock body is too hard and slippery to cut, but I did get through the shaft right where it narrows -just above the dust shield. This allowed me to recover all but one dust shield and the top upper mounts.
