Torchin Springs

Can I cut my springs to lower 1"-2" without jacking up the ride?

Re: Torchin Springs

I'd advise against this. I read the reasons ,but can't remember what they were.

Re: Torchin Springs

if you are going to cut your springs, do it by hand with a hack saw so that you don't affect the heat treatment of the spring steel. Most everyone on here just buys proper lowering springs.

Re: Torchin Springs

I did this a few years ago using a cutoff wheel. Like 94formulabz said, do not use a torch and have patience. I dropped mine 1-3/4" with pretty good results. There was a member here that posted hopw many coils to cut. I can't find him now. If I find my copy of it I will post it.
I just recently replace my shocks and springs with the Bilstein BTS package. It rides much nicer now.
for a couple hundred dollars you can do this a better way than cutting, but they can be cut.

Re: Torchin Springs

I plan on getting springs but am a poor college suck and am sick of my 17" wheels and stock height. I would never cut springs with torch unless i am throwing them away. How many coils to cut?

Then why is the title of the thread 'Torchin Springs'?

Re: Torchin Springs

Thats what is called...Cuz thats how they used to do it even though noone really does it that way anymore its still called that....This is speaking from me learning about cars from Hot Rod/Old School sources.

I think its bad if it affects the spring rates but if there are coils that are "dead" coils" i think they are called that serve some purpose i cant think of right now its okay to cut those off to lower.
