torque arm

i am looking to buy an aftermarket torque arm. i think of all the suspension upgrades ill someday have and this one seems most important for now. what i want to know is which one and tunnel or trans mounted. i only have exhaust and fast toys ram air ordered. but i want to work on the drivetrain and suspension for a while after that. and think i might as well get a ds loop while im at it. i have factory y-pipe and manifolds but someday will have probably slp or qtp headers and ory. is there an arm i can get that i wont have to switch out later? my idea is the SLP adjustable (which is transmounted i believe) then just use my spohn tunnel brace d/s loop i have sitting around from my old car. is that worth it or are tunnel brace mounted arms much better?

i would go bmr or spohn. Not to bash slp but i think their stuff is junk (well most of it). Bmr and spohn and both focused on f body suspensions, or suspensions in general.

I have a RandomTech T_Arm. It is adjustable for selection of pinion angle. Since I am setup for road type, I run about -1 to -1.5 degrees. Also, the Random has a round bushing which allows for less stress on the trans bushing on high cornering applications. Some drag type T_Arms are specifically made for straight line application and may not work well for heavy cornering. Depnds on your car configuration and application.

I'm very happy with the Spohn products. I have several of their products including a pinion adjustable torque arm for a ford 9" and a power glide tranny in my '87. They have several models and are of very good quality. I have also found the sales dept to be very helpful. I will be buying more of their cool stuff.

yea they have nice stuff.im looking now and thinking the spohn adjustable tunnelbrace mounted version. this one is said to give all-around traction (cornering launching ect) and it seems to make sense to get the LT header version even tho ill have stock y for a while still and get a front d/s loop (both to prepare for future) does this sound like it would work?

Is the car lowered at all? Mine is, I have the Spohn tunnel mounted with the straight crossbrace and my Pacesetter Y barely fits through but clears. Your results may vary!!

Yes. You really don't want to lower the car with the cross-brace that has the dip. Unless each and every road around your area is perfect. That includes speed bumps. Even mine drag slightly once, pissed me off.
