Tubbed out Z28 needs traction
Guys i got a 95 Z28 tubbed out, whats a good weight "lbs" to put in the trunk space to get good traction using stock tire size but with slicks?im breaking traction at 45mph and below.

Re: Tubbed out Z28 needs traction
If ya got 10" tire ya need to fix the suspension. If it's tubbed and 10" DOT tire I can put it on the bumper at 45mph with basic upgraded stock suspension. That is if ya don't have 1000+HP and a stick.

Re: Tubbed out Z28 needs traction
Ok im gonna try that stuff.Im pushing about 600-650hp...but on the spray "nos" is 175shot extra.i left the stock gears 3.23's to prevent wheel spin think that was that a smart move?I still gotta get more in the back tho.if i have to just put "dead" weights back there how much do you think would work, ballpark figure.I was in Hickory,NC playing around and a 06 Corvette Z06 busted my *** by a car link because i couldnt put the power to the ground.Pride is about dead, please help.

Ya never ADD weight the thing is to remove weight. Give more detail about your suspension. Is that 650 at the tire? Is the 650 with the hose? Are ya hitting it with all the hose at once? Will it haak without the hose? How much hose?

Wait, you tubbed the car, but have stock suspension under it? How did you get the shocks/springs to work w/ the stock rear (which I'd assume from the "i left the stock gears 3.23's" part).
I smell fish.

Re: Tubbed out Z28 needs traction
If ya lower it it will never hook without a bunch of other mods.
It will spin less with a 4.10 than a 3.23.
With that kind of power ya should be runnin 1.25-1.30 60' times. That ought to tell ya something. Do the research,do the mods and hang on.

yeah im a engine modifier,i honestly dont know **** about suspentions and all that..the way it is im 0-60 4.2 but im spinning way to much.so shorter gears like 4.11 will spin less than stock,i didnt know that..the shocks, rear end and all are stock..the tranny is a racing one.it just a little somethin im playin with but i didnt think the shocks would matter that much, its got the police interceptor package tho does that help?

Re: Tubbed out Z28 needs traction
Radio and speakers are gone, spare tire and tools, rear carpet, back seats and seat belts, both door panels, the insulation under the rear carpet is gone and i take my t-tops out and put them in my friends car when i race..
next will be all the carpet, factory seats will be history and the center console too.
to lighten the engine i removed the entire a/c setup, also i took the backup anti freeze container out "motor to radiator" setup now.Ive took the gas pistons off the hood and there brackets..Thats basically what i mean by tubbed out, sorry bout that.

Re: Tubbed out Z28 needs traction
tubbed out is when you get a narrowed rear axle and cut the crap out of the under side of your car to fit huge *** tires under there (like drag cars with 2 foot wide tires) you just did some weight reduction. what do you have for a motor? any specific specs? dyno sheets? just curious.

Re: Tubbed out Z28 needs traction
There are stock style 4th Gens running 1.2x 60-fts, without mini-tubs (although it appears that isn't what you meant by "tubbed out"). Its simply a matter of finding the right combination. We set this 30th SS up with the help of Spohn Performance..... 1.30 60-ft, 8.60@160MPH in a 3,550# car. To me, this is about the perfect launch:

Before the final tweeks, it was a bit harder to keep it on the ground, even when it was only running low 9's......

Re: Tubbed out Z28 needs traction
The police interceptor package huh? well no wonder your making 600hp. haha. But really he's right about that, Spohn makes some good suspension parts and so does BMR. I suggest Spohn's crossmember mounted torque arm setup, its stronger than BMR's.
