Umi Sfc

Hey guys,

Been browsing around, the UMI 3 point SFC look good. I like the dual support (on both sides) for the LCAs, and how it ties into the stock tunel brace bolts.

Does anyone have these installed, and if so, how do they like them? Would they work well with a Spohn Torque Arm (tunel mount), or not?

Thanks guys,

Igor.

Re: Umi Sfc

I have the UMI 2-point SFC's. The mounting plates on the end of them is 1/4" steel, and I'd assume that the 3-points would use similar construction. So you'll need to verify that your tunnel crossmember bolts are long enough to pass through everything.

FWIW, UMI shows their 3-point SFCs installed along with their tunnel crossmember mounted TA, so I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem with the Spohn piece. The Spohn TA and UMI TA both look very similar in design and mounting.

Yes, the two look very much alike.

I'm sure I can make my bolts work for me, and I do really like the look of the 3pc subframes. They look they are sturdy.

I Have The Three Point Sub Frame Connectors And Adjuster Tourqe Arm. The Only Problem I Had Was Clunk On Take Off And That Was My Fault I Did Not Adjust Torqe Arm Correctly Now Car Is Perfect After Working With Jerry At Umi. I Would Reccomend Them To Anyone Their Produts Are Great!

I've got a UMI TA (crossmember mounted), and the bolts that came with it (for the Xmbr mount) look like they would be long enough to go through the crossmember and a SFC mount. Barely long enough, but I think they'd be OK. You could get longer bolts at any hardware store, if you needed them.

Re: Umi Sfc

Well I think my final choice is:

UMI 3 point SFC
Adj. trans mounted arm
DS Loop

Question:
How does a guy adjust the torque arm (how to know what is the right angle for you)?

Thanks.

You will need an angle finder gauge and here is a brief run-down in this link: http://www.go-fast.org/z28/pinionangle.html Your torque should also come with directions on how to set the pinion angle.

I've found that, with my 383 and the 315 rear tires, my transmission was taking a beating from the stock torque arm lifting on it... so I got a crossmember mounted TA. Not everyone has this problem, though, as many people have run really fast 1/4 mile times with trans-mounted TAs.
