UMI Sway Bar Kit

UMI Sway Bar Kit
I want to do some suspension upgrades on my Z. Has anyone used UMI sway bar kit? Also I want to change out the stock torque arm with a UMI piece. I want to do the install myself.

Re: UMI Sway Bar Kit
Love my UMI arm, haven't tried their bars yet. Good parts, and good service. I got the one that takes the arm off of the transmission tail, didn't make sense to put those loads on the tranny.

Re: UMI Sway Bar Kit
Thanks for considering UMI.
Our upgrade bars work great and are easy to install. The 35/22 combo provide a nice balance.

The torque arm is easy to replace as well. Were you thinking full length or tunnel brace mount?
Here is a link to one of our installs:

Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: UMI Sway Bar Kit
Hey Ramey, thanks for the reply! I was thinking adjustable full length but I do have Jet Hot long tube headers and a 3 inch y-pipe and a LS1 driveshaft on the car. Which torque arm would you suggest??

Re: UMI Sway Bar Kit
Installs are very easy and straightforward.
the sway bars make a huge difference on the car, I have their rear drag bar and a eibach front bar
they are both pretty huge, but the car handles like its on rails.
Torque arm install is easy as pie, finding the right angle can be a pita if your not familiar with it all tho.
if you dont have rear control arms or panhard rod, took a look at those too

Hey greenformula. That drag bar is pretty stout, eh? Our WS6 leaves completely flat with that one on there. Before the bar it torqued out of shape like a pretzel.
SROACH, the full length torque arms work great in almost all applications. If you're interested in a little more off the line and a bit quicker response, our tunnel mounts work great.
Torque Arms : UMI Performance, Inc.
A good way to decide which tunnel brace you need is, if the stock tunnel brace clears, use our straight one. If it doesn't, consider our 2203 with the dip built in.
Road race, auto-x, and everyday street suits the 2205 well.
Let me know what you need or get on here with more questions. Happy to help.

Re: UMI Sway Bar Kit
Well my goal is to get some handling gains also improve the looks of the bottom of the car. That stock crap just looks horrilbe to me. This Spring I`m going to POR(Paint Over Rust) a few items also.

Re: UMI Sway Bar Kit
Greenformula, is the rear easier to kick out from behind you while taking a corner? I would love to get the 35/25 drag bar, but I'm afraid of this happening often and not wanting to take corners the way I like to.

Re: UMI Sway Bar Kit
Traditional suspension design for rear wheel drive generally indicates that a severely oversized rear sway (e.g. 1.25" solid chrome moly) bar will promote excessive oversteer, to the point of potential danger. Works great on a drag strip, but not ideal for street use.
