upper balljoint with no threaded stud???

i ordered a set of upper balljoints from the local auto parts place and they gave me TRW p/n 104233. i didnt open the box until i got home, but it looks very different from the OEM balljoints that were riveted into the stock a-arms. for one thing, there ISN'T a threaded stud/castellated nut to fit into the spindle; instead there is a fat cylindrical piece of metal. aside from the three nuts and bolts that obviously attach it to the a-arm, there is a long bolt and nut that came in the box.

Is this the wrong part or is there some special way of mounting this one? Im really perplexed.

Mike.

Re: upper balljoint with no threaded stud???

my guess is that the new one is supposed to be of a pressed variety. i would take it back and ask for one that is a thread and nut deal.
