URGENT HELP NEEDED (Changing brakes on my 99 Dodge Ram)
So I've got my car up on jackstands and its getting dark out now, and I cant get the calipers to compress enough to let me slide them over the rotors.
It seems like it wont budge, I've changed a ton of brakes before but these just dont seem to wanna move unless theres some trick I dont know about.
I have the cap off of the master cylinder, and i used the old brake pad and pounded on it with a hammer which has worked in the past but no dice, I kept the old pads in and used a big screwdriver and that wouldnt work either, I cant find my big c clamp which is what I should be using, but Ive never really needed it in the past, somebody help because I need to go out soon and its the only car around right now.

i dont know about that specific car but on some carts the piston needs to be rotated to retract into the bore, usually done with a special tool
most auto parts has a little cube that links to a 3/8 dr ratchet and pretty much fits any pistor to rotate/retract it

You pounded on it with a hammer???
Are you high? Use a c-clamp or large channel locks. It also helps to open the bleeder while you are compressing the caliper as newer ABS systems seem to resist fluid back flowing through the system.
