Vette Brake Upgarde
#2
I've done it. I have pics of mine in a thread over in the autocross/roadracing section. All the info you're looking for is also over there in many topics that concern this exact subject.
some short answers though, it usually costs about 850$, although the brackets are no longer being made by Bob Bishop. No, it isnt hard to do at all, the instructions that come with it are very detailed. Yes the kit makes a difference. Unless you're after only the looks, a car that is driven only on the street doesnt need this upgrade at all, this upgrade proves most effective at the racetrack.

Unfortunately, Bob Bishop (the guy that designed the most common C5 bracket for f-bodies) is no longer making them. You can still do it, but it will take a little more work. You will have to get LS1 front spindle arms, then get the C5 brackets from LGMotorsports. LGM I believe will also sell you the calipers, rotors and pads if you want, or you may be able to order them seperately.
Personally, I woulnd't bother with the C5 upgrade, just upgrade to the LS1 f-body front brakes. I just did this, and they are more than adequate even for roadcourse use (just use a race pad). My LS1 front brakes w/ Carbotech XPs stop my Firehawk better than my Z06 did with PFC Z rated pads (combo street/track compound). Granted, the pads have a lot to do with this, but the Firehawk is also 400lbs heavier. Plus, if you do just the LS1 brake upgrade, you can always order the brackets from LGM and upgrade to 13 C5 rotors later on.

I have the C5 brakes too. They are incredible, but yes Bob doesnt make the brackets anymore. My pics are up on my site, I have an entire page dedicated to the install but no pics of the finished project with the wheel on yet.
