it will make a difference. Go LS for your breaks. Im on brembo blanks and hawk pads, my car stops well but I think an LS setup willl do better.

I think I went with HPS Hawks.. Go with the Street Performance Pads... Mine don't squeel or produce excess brake dust.

I have LS1 brakes and powerslot slotted rotors up front. Earl SS brake lines. Regular LT1 brakes in the back with PBR pads.

My car stops a lot better but I warped my rotors braking hard from 145 to 60mph. Do not buy drilled rotors because they will crack on you. The LS1 rotors are not large enough to hold/disperse the amount of heat/clamping force generated by the LS1 calipers. The rotors will warp easily on you if your hard on them.

I swapped to a set of LS1 fronts with factory LS1 rotors, Hawks pads all around, and Earls stainless lines all around. Stops noticeably better, but in the future I definatley want some slotted rotors. I hear good things about them.

If your on the market for new brakes I highly recommend taking a look at kore3.com, they sell corvette brake kits for 4th gens and just about everything else. I used their c5 kit on my car, it stops awesome and looks cool. Thats the only reason i stepped up to c5 brakes was the looks, LS1 brakes in my opinion are more than suffecient and vastly superior to Lt1 brakes. just my 2 cents

does the ls1 or c5 brake setups weight more or less than the stock lt1 brake setup?

yea, the lt1 rotors are 10.9 in. the Ls1 rotors are 11.9 in. and the c5/z06 rotors are 12.9 in, the calipers are about the same weight id imagine. The lt1 calipers have only one large piston in them, the ls1 and c5/z06 have two pistons per caliper a little smaller in diameter. The two piston design clamps the rotors more evenly and produce less fade. The c5/zo6 (the same caliper is used for both) take the caliper design one step further as they are pressure cast for more ridgity allowing the caliper to take more abuse and clamp even better, good choice for autocross. With the c5/z06 brakes you do trim the mounting area for the old lt1 calipers off so this will save you some weight. I think a little added weight is far surpassed by the superior braking power of the ls1 and c5 brake designs. The cool thing about these setups are you can walk into autozone and buy pads and rotors versus going with the more exotic brake setups (bear, wilson, etc) and having to order them from the company... more cost and a wait. hope this helps
