What mods for SS Convertible for better handling?

I've always had the strut tower brace, but some people say it doesnt help too much. I say it does. What other options do I have that are quick and painless mods to help handling such as hard turning and general roll on a vert?

Well not easy but the first thing is SHOCKS. If you want something easier and cheapier. Get a front Sway bar. The best is the 35mm Hollow, but the 35mm solid is little cheaper but you do have to pay heavy freight on it. Both are good. And do help a lot.

I thought verts came with sway bars or something like them. What kind of shocks work the best?

Re: What mods for SS Convertible for better handling?

A lot of cars come with sway bars and all the fbodies do too(well I know from 82+) the issue is a bigger sway bar can help control body roll and make turning more crisp. Its pretty much like adding a bigger spring. The aftermarkert bars are GREAT and much larger than stock. I would have one!

The shocks go like this.

Koni 4/4 about 870. shipped
Koni 4/3 about 770 shipped
Revalves between 500-600 don't remmeber.
Bilsteins HD's 349.99

Hope this helps!

I am on koni's and love them. Many don't want to shell out 800 for shocks but they are the first place you should start. I was 21 and in college when I bought them so you can imagine how hard it was for me to spend that much on shocks but god were they worth it. Talk to sam strano at www.stranoparts.com he can answer all your q's and he doesn't try to sell you sh** you don't need. I would start with koni's and his hollow front bar. You will be satisfied for a while after that.

I have a 95 Vert. Most noticable mods suspension wise were Shocks/Springs, and a 35mm hollow Swaybar. Talk to Sam.

I have not yet replaced the shocks since I only have 35K on the car, but
the KBDD SFCs made an amazing difference. I noticed it the first driveway
I exited. Here is the thread with some pics:

I agree with truedualws6, if you don't have them get some SFC's. I have a 99 Z28 Vert, and it made a huge difference, and it saves stress on the body of the car. Then the shocks/roll bar would probably be next. I'm going to be doing shocks soon I think.

It's nothing specific to convertilbles. Generally tire size and construction is the reason.

with shoebox on this one. The biggest thing that makes you follow grooves in the pavement is the size of your front tires. I drive my car with the salad shooters for the start and end of the season. When i put on the 275's in front compared to the stock 245's it feels lilke i get stuck in ruts in the pavement. Its omg difference.

My Salad shooters seem too follow the grooves pretty bad, I've always thought it may have something to do with being a vert but that is just speculation.

I havent tried a larger sized tire so perhaps its even worse with larger tires.

I'm guessing being a vert may contribute to it just like tire size does, based on nothing but my gut feeling
