wheel hop?

My car started doing this about 2 weeks ago. It's fine if I punch it and spin through 1st, but when I shift from 1-2, instead of spinning and maybe fishtailing slightly on a clean blacktop, the car now wheelhops like a little ricer. I first noticed this with a full tank of gas, but tried it again about 3/8 of a tank and nothing different. Anyone have this happen? I'm reluctant to do any WOT fun runs much less race someone at this point, because I don't want to replace the 10 bolt yet as I have many other things I'd rather do at this point to the car. I thought only independend rear suspension cars like the 03 Cobras have wheel hop problems?

Re: wheel hop?

tubular lower control arms/panhard rod and LCA relocation brackets should solve your problems.

Re: wheel hop?

you could have broken a torque arm mount, allowing too much axle rotation which leads to wheelhop.

the panhard bar really has no affect on wheelhop...it just centers the axle left to right.

but a poly torque arm bushing and lower control arms elimindated all my wheelhop. it just made the car spin nice and smooth at all speeds and gears. almost as if on wet pavement.

Re: wheel hop?

Hmmm, I'll have to look into that teke. Would a broken mount still cause wheel hop just spinning through 1st? It's only when I shift into 2 does it wheel hop several times, otherwise it's smooth as it is when the ground is wet.

Re: wheel hop?

sure it's not a busted trans mount....sounding like wheel hop?

hard to say what conditions would cause it to be noticable. either way the torque arm mount, and lca are about $120 and will help ANY car hook better

Re: wheel hop?

Well I tried it again today with a WOT run with 1/2 a tank on the same street, and this time it didn't hop at all. I duno what the deal is, but I'm happy as long as it doesn't start doing it again.
