Where can I buy brake kits (Baer / Brembo)

I was driving my 95 Z28 Convertible, and immediately got into my 2004 Acura
TL, and the brakes in the Camaro really suck.

Where can I buy a complete brake kit (Master cylinder, capliers rotors, lines
and pads)?

Which is the best deal Baer, Brembo ect?

What I mean by best deal is this, out of all the brake kits, what will buy the
a descent kit for the lowest price.

Thank

(Oh, I was driving on the highway around here 55mph road and some kid in
an eclipse had to drive up my rear to prove his car is fast, well needless to
say, as I pulled away from him, he and I both know his car is not fast)

Re: Where can I buy brake kits (Baer / Brembo)

What is the purpose for this car? If it is going to be a daily driven car with no road-course use, then the Brembos are way overkill. First try to get some nice pads, and see if the pads make a difference. If not, next best option to improve your brakes is to go to a local junkyard, pick up some LS1 spindles, and then either convert to the LS1 brake setup (do a search under "LS1 Brake Conversion, you will find a lot of good reading), or if you want really nice brakes, again after getting the LS1 spindles, go to Stoptech's website and get their LS1 brake kit. It is not as expensive as Brembo, but it is a very very good kit. But then again, even the Stoptech kit might be overkill.

But yeah, try some nice pads first, then we will go from there

I'd just do the LS1 brake upgrade. Then get some good pads. That will cost you about $300 total with a new set of pads.

I bought my Baer setup from TByrne Racing. They are a sponsor on this site. I got a nice price on them on a group purchase. They are definitely a step up from the LS1 brakes.

Re: Where can I buy brake kits (Baer / Brembo)

Hello,

I just checked out the Baer Brakes kit on tybrne.com.

And I have one other question, are you using 16" wheels with the kit.
I know some kits only accept 17", but I want to keep the stock rims, so
chances are I will not be changing wheel size.

Thanks
Tom

Better look into the 98-02 f-body brake upgrade if you want to keep your 16" wheels.

I have the 12" Baer kit. They fit with the stock wheels fine.
Both the Baers and the LS1s will require the spare wheel/tire from a 98 or later Camaro.

Re: Where can I buy brake kits (Baer / Brembo)

The LS1 front brake upgrade is the best upgrade under $1000. For roughly $200 you can get the same basic setup as a C5 with just a 1" smaller diameter rotor. Also, they are about the only option if you want to stay with 16" wheels. Considering the LS1 setup stops me just fine on the roadcourse, I don't see any reason why you would need more than this. Honestly though, if you are street only (or dragstrip), I'd just get some better brake pads and not even bother with a system upgrade. The Carbotech Bobcat compound would be a great upgrade for you and would give you dramatically better stopping power for only $109. http://www.carbotecheng.com/prod-ct-compounds.htm
