Re: why can't i get the brake lines off?

Well, I had to make the trip back to school and leave the car at home. I tried vice grips, no go. I also soaked it with enough liquid wrench/wd40 to accumulate a nice puddle on the ground under it. I think it's getting towed tomorrow so the shop can put on the new lines, bleed the system, and give the car an alignment while I'm in school/work this week. Hopefully it will be all ready for me if I go home this weekend.

Just sucks to have to drive home (4 hours both ways) two weekends in a row, w/o company.

sorry your install didn't go to well. Do you think your knuckles are in good shape? I just got mine back from the alignment shop and the knuckles were fine on my setup. Damn i'm happy with these brakes.

the knuckles looked fine, everything went smooth except for a snag getting the old knuckles off, and then not being able to get the lines off

They will be worth it trust me. Not only do they stop better but they fill up the wheel better which is also 50% of the reason i did it. I was tired of see those little brakes inside the wheel. I don't ever want to go back to 16in wheels but the LS1 setup really fills them up and looks sweet. Here are some pics of someone elses.

They do fill up my 18's better but not as much as i would like. There is a few pics on the 2nd page of my sig.

Ok, got the car back, the brakes are great. I'll post some pictures tomorrow most likely. The shop charged me $240 to take the old line off, put the new ones on, and align the car.

Re: why can't i get the brake lines off?

I was wondering if we would get an update. I'm glad you like them. The LS1 set ups are pretty sweet. Did they have to cut the metal line and put a new fitting on? Lets see some pics? I'm already thinking about upgrading to the C5's to try to fill up my 18's.

They said they used a special brake line wrench to get them off, but they were still a pain. Pics tomorrow when i get a chance to go on campus and upload them all/make a page to display thumbnails

Re: why can't i get the brake lines off?

I'm glad you got it fixed man. Every time I have a stubborn fastener, especially a brake line, I'll break out the old heat wrench, A.K.A. Mr. Oxy-Acetyline torch. Even a propane torch will heat small brake fittings and they'll come apart VERY easily. Get 'em red and give 'em' a twist.

Sounds like a Vice grip. Didn't you round off the metal fitting? Well i hope they replaced the Metal fitting incase you ever need to get the line off again.
