Unhappy Why does "Low Trac" light come on?

Why does "Low Trac" light come on? It does not come on when first cranked up. I'll put it in gear and start to roll off and then it comes on and goes right back off. This is in a 93 Z28 auto equipped 4 speed with 323's. It doesn't do it all of the time yet, just when it sits for a while. Any help out there?

Your ABS system isn't "happy". Try cleaning the sensors and verifying the connector plugs are clean and properly seated.

I get that every now and then, mostly when I start backing up it flashes real quick

The low trac light comes on when the system is activated and it sees, or thinks it sees a wheel turning at a different rate then the rest. Typically the light will come on when you get in a situation where one wheel is skidding. You should scan the system at the time the light comes on to see what the 3 sensors are reporting. You can then see if one is a problem and which one it is.

Usually a sensor problem will trigger a DTC and turn off the ABS system and light the ABS INOP light AFTER the car starts to roll. If the car sits still in the driveway before rolling, it will not light. This is a soft code. Since yours doesn't seem to do that, it would appear the sensor is having a problem between the reluctor wheel and the pick-up.

I had the same problem last year, the damn ABS would kick on as i would come to a stop, and had to jam on the brakes hard to get it to stop (you loose braking response in low-effort stops when it kicks on). There's a little plug on the inside of the LH and RH steering knuckles (on the back of the wheel hub) that senses wheel rotation, I unplugged these and cleaned the connections. Problem stopped.
