will Corvette calipers fit my 2001 SS
Does anyone know if the late model Vette calipers are a direct bolt on for my 2001 Camaro SS ?? This may sound stupid but I really like the red colored Vette calipers that say Corevette on them. My local parts house has a set that someone ordered and never picked up. He says they will fit and offered me a great deal but NO RETURNS. Please let me know.

C5 or C6 vette? C5s will fit on 17 wheels, you need special mounting brackets to make them work, a guy named Bob Bishop use to make them I beleive. I'm not sure about C6 calipers on a 17" wheel. I would think they may not fit since the base C6 has 18" front wheels. If you do a search on this topic you should find the info you need.

Yes, if you go to the red menu bar at the top of this screen there is a 'search' link just under your user name field. Do an advanced search on 'brakes' in the title and you'll find tons of threads on all the different brake swaps options people have done.

C6 calipers are slightly stronger than C5 calipers. But overall there are the same size. The brackets you need are now called "Track Brackets". They provide mounting holes in the correct place for the C5/C6 caliper abutment brackets that postion the calipers and pads. C6 calipers will fit under 17" OEM wheels.
There is the next step up is C6 Z51, which uses the same calipers but a "taller" abutment bracket to allow for a larger rotor. These require 18" wheels. Up from that is C6 Z06, where the caliper is a 6 piston design that does without the abutment bracket (it has 6 pistons, it doesn't need sliders) and uses a larger again rotor. Also requires an 18" wheel.
C5, C5 Z06 & C6 are all about the same and mount up to the "track brackets" and fit inside 17" OEM wheels. (Some aftermarket doesn't clear the face of the calipers)
C6 Z51 & C6 Z06 mount up to the "track brackets" aswell but need at least 18" wheels.
To mount the track brackets, I believe you have to cut off the existing caliper mounting holes on the knuckles (1993-1997 for sure, 1998-2002 maybe/maybe not)
