I am trying to buy a set of 1LE springs.

This has been made way too difficult by the huge mess of partnumbers for front springs and the fact that GM might / Will ship stock Z28 springs as replacements.

Well intentioned people will try to point me to web based sources such as 1LE.net and so forth. I have been there done that. The spring part numbers are no longer valid for most of the partnumbers they give.

I have contacted Dal and as near as I can tell he gave me partnumbers that do not source the right springs.

What I need is something that I can measure that will identify a 1LE front spring.

To go from 292 lb/in to 360 lb/in something had to change. To stiffen a spring you have to increase the spring wire diameter, reduce the number of coils, or change the overall diameter of the spring. Changing alloy or temper will not make a 20% change in rate.

The stock 1995 Z28 spring I have, has the following rough dimensions.

If anyone has a spring that they can 100% trace back to a 1LE car, I would really like to get the dimensions of it.

The 1LE rear spring has a plastic spacer on a tightly wound spring coil near the top. This coil must be the progressive part of the 130-170 lb/in. It has the partnumber 22132889 it is also a good discontinued 1LE number. http://www.gyrhead.com/special.htm , Has the rear spring, but I am unsure about the front, it appears to be nearly the same as my stock front spring. The rear spring 10305134 looks nothing like the 22132889. 10305134 is an incorrect 1LE spring but does appear to be linear wound and has one less coil than stock.

Any accurate dimensions / info on the correct 1LE front 360# spring would be a great help.

I would be interested in buy a used set of 1LE springs since new ones are hard to come by.

Take a chill pill man. Dont waste your time trying to contact Chevrolet. I measured my stock front coils vs 1LE 360# coils and the 1LEs have a whole extra coil and are about a half inch longer (15" vs 15.5") IIRC. I dont recall the part number off hand but Ive verifyed both the part numbers. I got my 1LEs from Gyrhead and they are the real deal.

I have a set of 1LE springs from Gyrhead. The rear spring is correct, but the front appears to be stock replacement spring.

I also have to point out that an extra coil softens a spring, less coils makes the spring rate higher.

As to chilling, I plan to, after the car has front suspension again. It is not your car that is setting up on jack stands with nothing under the front end but air.

Yeah... just checked the set I ordered... same F&#@$% scam.

stock front springs, 1LE rears.

Who EVER heard of a stock 4th gen needing more REAR spring rate.

I am not amused.
